Farouk Boujemaa

Main Role & Function at L&S Farouk works as a verifier and trainer. Education & Experience Farouk holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and has 10 years of experience in the industry sector working on issues related to environmental and social sustainability. In 2011, he started his career as an environmental and safety engineer within environmental consultancies. He is an expert in environmental impact assessments as well as risk and chemical assessments. He has completed numerous quality, environmental, safety and social training programs. In 2016, Farouk joined the leader of textiles in Tunisia (WICMIC group) and participated in the implementation of a sustainability strategy in EMS, chemical management and energy. He supported them to utilize the Higg Index in five facilities. The same year, he participated in an energy manager training with Renac in Germany and since then had established an energy committee in all WICMIC facilities in Tunisia to achieve fixed energy targets. Farouk left WICMIC Group in early 2020 to join Leadership & Sustainability. Audit & training qualifications Farouk has performed numerous environmental, social and health & safety assessments in Tunisia. This includes environmental assessments in the areas of textile processes, energy, water-saving, wastewater, air pollution, chemical management, waste management, BATs (best available technologies) as well as ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals), social, health and safety audits. He is familiar with various brands’ Codes of conduct like PVH, KONTOOR BRANDS, and INDITEX and is experienced in sustainability practices and programs like EIM developed by Jeanologia, ZDHC, Standard 100 by Oekotex, Higg index, BSCI, SA 8000 and RTM. Farouk is an approved SAC Higg FEM (Facility Environmental Module) generalist and chemical specialist verifier, SLCP (Social and Labor Convergence Program) verifier, ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) trainer and an IRCA ISO14001 & 9001 lead auditor.
