Olga Chkanikova

Main Role & Function at L&S Olga works as Senior Sustainability Manager at Leadership & Sustainability and is based in Sweden. Education & Experience Olga has a multi-disciplinary background in sustainability and business management. She holds an MSc. in Sustainability Science, Policy and Management from Central European University (Hungary) and Manchester University (UK). Olga also completed her PhD studies in 2016 in Industrial Environmental Economics from Lund University (Sweden), with a focus on Sustainable Supply Chain Management. Olga’s work experience in business and academia spans the energy, retail, food, and textile sectors. In her previous roles, she worked as a Business Analysist, Sustainability Advisor and Logistics Manager. As a Senior Lecturer at the Swedish School of Textiles and Researcher at Lund University, she undertook applied research in collaboration with business partners delivering R&D projects, numerous publications and courses in areas of sustainable supply chain management, circular business innovations, certification implementation, as well as digital business transformation. Olga also collaborated with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the European Topic Center on Sustainable Consumption and Production (ETC/SCP) at the European Environmental Agency (EEA). During this collaboration, she co-authored the Global Environmental Outlook report (GEO-5) and assisted in implementing multi-stakeholder workshops on circular business models. In addition to having a good understanding of sustainability issues, associated regulations/policies and managerial approaches with a focus on the implementation of environmental and social practices, Olga has strong analytical skills and is able to apply various business intelligence tools to identify areas of improvements that drive value for business, people and planet. This includes, for example, stakeholder analysis and management, product portfolio and supplier segmentation techniques, and value chain analysis. Olga has experience in developing sustainability strategies, requirements and associated implementation policies for different functional teams and suppliers to drive compliance. Specific focus of professional activities include: • Analysis of drivers & barriers for sustainable supply chain management. • Developing goals for triple bottom-line sustainability improvements. • Purchasing management and supplier relationship management for developing ‘green’ product assortment. • Sustainability certifications management from standards selection to implementation based on specific company requirements. • Eco-brands development as a complementary approach to sustainability certification for ‘green’ market development. • Business model development with a focus on digital, sustainable and circular solutions.
