Introducing our new Senior Supply Chain Manager – Samet Yigit Mendi

    By Julia Capune | Allgemein | 0 comment | 3 July, 2023 | 11

We at Leadership & Sustainability are very proud of our ever-expanding team and would like to welcome our newest senior employee, Samet Yigit Mendi, our senior supply chain manager, who is eager to bring his expertise in branding and production to our company.

Meet our Senior Supply Chain Manager

Samet Yigit Mendi joined us this April as our new Senior Supply Chain Manager. Since finishing his bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Samet has held a variety of positions within the textile industry. As a step to achieving a broader academic background, Samet participated in the research and development of self-cleaning qualities of textile products at the Valencia Polytechnic University.

He has provided his knowledge and services to countless businesses with a great work ethic and imaginative planning, such as being responsible for the development of corrective action plans for suppliers and managing the order process from development to production. His passion for challenging himself and accepting new challenges with an open heart are traits that we value at Leadership & Sustainability.

Want to know more about Samet? Keep reading!

What sparked your interest and made you decide to work in the sustainability industry?

I am a textile engineer and I have many years of experience in the textile production industry. The textile sector is a huge industry with the power to enable people to do something good. It is very easy to produce textiles without thinking about the impacts the production has on the environment and the lives of humans and animals, so the world needs some support from our end. This is why I feel that we need to create a much more sustainable flow in the industry. By supporting brands and factories we can generate much quicker results that can accelerate sustainability efforts.

Can you tell me what way you plan to shape your new position to generate value for L&S and its customers?

I am planning to use the knowledge I have gained through working for several different types of textile factories and brands (jersey, woven, denim, knitwear). Throughout my career, I have been able to become very familiar with a variety of business models and approaches, and I believe that these different approaches are extremely important in the industry to improve sustainability awareness and make a difference.

What would you say are your proudest achievements, either on a professional basis or a personal basis?

I would personally say I am very open to new experiences and challenges; I can’t think of a specific example but overall, I am really proud of myself for my initiative to escape my comfort zone.

How do you deal with challenges in the work environment and what advice would you give to people facing similar challenges?

I feel that most challenges occur due to miscommunication. I am always putting in the effort to listen to others first and then explain my points, gaining a better understanding is key to explaining yourself to someone. My suggestions are to be humble, listen carefully and then make a plan of action accordingly.

From your professional point of view, what would you say is the most crucial step that companies should be taking to improve their sustainability?

Companies should always first try to be as open and honest as possible. We know that nobody is completely innocent in their actions from a sustainability perspective. Therefore, the quicker we own up to our actions the quicker we can move forward, setting clear goals and deadlines is crucial. If we realize we cannot achieve the goal short term then that is okey, we must set reasonable goals to see results. It is better to see long term results than to fail and give up due to striving for unreasonable goals.

We at Leadership & Sustainability are very excited to have Samet as part of our team and hope you enjoyed the interview we conducted with him – if so, please feel free to leave a Like!

    Best wishes,

    The Leadership & Sustainability team
