With up to 95% of the cycling industry’s emissions arising from supply chains—especially during material sourcing and production—Shift Cycling Culture and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) partnered with industry leaders to launch the Climate Action Training (CAT) project. Eight leading cycling companies—Accell, Canyon, Quality Bicycle Products, Rose, Schindelhauer, Schwalbe, Scott, and Trek—came together to support this free, online training tailored for hard goods suppliers in Asia and delivered in multiple local languages. The course equips factory leaders and mid-management with essential skills in measuring, reporting, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, with practical case studies on effective emission-reduction solutions. Leadership & Sustainability co-developed the program with GIZ and Fischer, Knoblauch & Co., integrating digital learning expertise. Insights from industry partners helped ensure the training aligned with real-world supplier needs. Now live in English, the course will also be available in Mandarin and Vietnamese by mid-November, empowering suppliers to drive a net-zero future for cycling.
